It’s been a big few months for Auckland One Rail so there was plenty to talk about last week at our Quarterly Leadership Forum!
The forum was a great opportunity to bring together our teams and also hear from our partners at Auckland Transport to reflect on the progress we’ve made with the opening of the City Rail Link and hear what’s ahead for Auckland rail.
One of the best parts of the morning was recognising some of the brilliant people who keep our railway running every day. From going above and beyond for customers to finding smarter ways of working and championing safety, our quarterly award winners are a great reminder of the people behind the operation:
AOR Values Award: For excellence in line with AOR’s values: Safety, Integrity, Respect and One Team.
- Dave Evans for improving the consistency, accuracy and traceability of our disruption communications.
- Elisma Lubbe for ensuring Auckland One Rail stays compliant and closes out corrective actions.
Customer Champion Award: For outstanding customer service or engagement with customers, or behaviours that encourage colleagues to follow their example.
- Trudy D’Souza for ensuring the safety of an elderly customer during a medical event.
- Paul Andersen and Leah Carr for giving first aid and managing a serious self-harm incident.
Operational Excellence Award: For outstanding contributions to AOR’s operations, including day-to-day operations, service planning, rosters, scheduling, fleet control, operational readiness, engineering and assets, facilities and station control, driver managers, train service managers and CRL.
- Mark Elphee for taking over driver duties (when travelling as a passenger) and preventing potential delays and safety issues.
- Tashvim Khan for ensuring Auckland One Rail was ready for any contingency for City Rail Link operations.
- Willie Staniland for finding a solution to a long-standing routing issue, reducing errors and operational delays.
Maintenance Excellence Award: Recognising excellence in the care and maintenance of assets including rolling stock, and station and facility equipment.
- Sebastian Higuita for developing a system giving real-time visibility of fleet status.
- Jake MacArthur for an initiative that improves fault finding information for technicians and developing training.
Safety Star Award: For contributing to a safe and effective workplace or rail network.
- Ian Lee for highlighting a potential occupational health risk, ensuring he was looking out for colleagues and their health and wellbeing.
- Lasa Pasese for looking after a team member during an incident with a member of the public.
- Chris Poole for his quick action in extinguishing a fire on the platform at Waitemata on the opening day of the City Rail Link.
Congratulations to our winners and all who were nominated for the awards. It’s our people who make Auckland One Rail what it is, and we’re proud to have such a great team behind Auckland’s metro rail network.
