Auckland One Rail is
pleased to have commenced operations of the Auckland Passenger Rail network.
Auckland One Rail brings
its world-class rail capabilities to Auckland and is now responsible for passenger
train operations across the Auckland rail network, including the provision of
drivers and other train staff, development of timetables, station operations
and maintenance, safety and security, and customer facing activities, in an
initial eight-year contract.
The new franchise owner
is a joint venture between two global leaders in public transport: CIMIC
Group’s UGL and ComfortDelGro Transit (CDGT). UGL and CDGT are collectively
responsible for more than 640 million metro rail passenger journeys and 285
stations across rail networks in Singapore and Australia.
Auckland One Rail CEO Paul
D’Alessio said: “This is an incredibly exciting new partnership between
ourselves and Auckland Transport and marks the start of new era for passenger
rail in Auckland. I am very much looking forward to working with this talented
team to deliver further improvements for customers, ensuring they have a
reliable, safe, world-class experience, when travelling with us. We look
forward to welcoming you on board”.
The Franchise includes
introducing new services for Aucklanders through the City Rail Link (CRL) which
is planned for completion in 2024.
Enhanced service levels and efficiencies through this new city centre section
of line will transform the city’s rail experience and patronage levels.
