In July, we celebrated our staff who have gone above and beyond in their roles at AOR. They are nominated by their peers and it can be tough job for our leadership team to choose the winners.
This quarter, congratulations go to our team members for the following:
AOR Values Award: Train Manager Lawrence Taufa for alerting a driver of a trespasser on the tracks. If he had not acted so quickly it is unlikely the driver would have been able to stop in time.
Customer Champion Award: Customer Service Team Leader Moira Allen helped a customer who required urgent medical assistance and stayed with her until an ambulance arrived.
Philip Varghese who courageously stepped in to protect a young female from an attack.
Nick Lee for taking quick action and averting a potential fatal incident due to a trespasser.
Simon Maclean who took swift action to help save the life of a trespasser.
Mohamed Khandagawi from our security contractors FIRST Security played a key role in de-escalating an aggressive situation involving a passenger and staff.
AOR Values Award: Train Manager Francis Devassy (who was unable to attend). Francis noticed two young boys lying on the tracks and contacted train control to block the track.
Operational Excellence Award: Rickus van Niekerk (unable to attend) who took it upon himself to develop a Train Operations Centre Manual for our ops centre team, then rolled it out to his team.
Awards were presented by Dave Phillips, Gary Ryan, Danielle Ah Kuoi, Gavin Panter FCIRO FCILT, and Lisa D’Oliveira.
