On Monday, 3 February electric trains ran for the first time from the newly opened Pukekohe Station. CEO Martin Kearney and COO Gavin Panter travelled on the first EMU from Pukekohe to Waitematā (Britomart), with driver Dion Lynch and TM Cameron. Other ELT members took the first EMU out of Waitematā heading to Pukekohe to greet customers travelling on the first services.

The last diesel train ran from the station when it closed in August 2022 to allow for the electrification of the rail line between Pukekohe and Papakura.
The Pukekohe Station also underwent maintenance work in preparation for the City Rail Link, which is scheduled to open in 2026.
